More than an email move
Moving between Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 is usually described as an email migration. Email is the easy part. The company login changes, files and their sharing have to move, every app that uses "Sign in with Google" or Microsoft needs reconnecting, and every Mac needs its accounts, synced folders and sign-in set up again. We plan the whole switch as one project, in either direction.
Which way, and why
Google Workspace to Microsoft 365. Usually because clients or a larger partner work in Microsoft, the company needs Excel and Teams in depth, or a security framework is built around Entra ID.
Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace. Usually because the company is Mac-first and browser-first, wants simpler administration, or never used most of what Microsoft 365 includes.
Both work well with Macs when set up properly. If you are still deciding, we will tell you whether the switch is worth the disruption.
What moves
Email, calendars and contacts. Copied in the background and switched out of hours. Details on our email migrations page.
Files. Google Drive and Shared Drives to OneDrive and SharePoint, or the other way, with permissions mapped before anything is copied. See cloud storage migrations.
Sign-in. The company login moves to the new platform, or to a separate identity provider such as Okta or JumpCloud if that suits you better. Apps using single sign-on are reconnected before cutover.
Macs and iPhones. New accounts, synced folders and Platform SSO pushed through device management, so people sign in on Monday without setting anything up themselves.
Groups, shared mailboxes and aliases. Rebuilt on the new platform so mail to sales@ or accounts@ keeps reaching the right people.
How it works
Weeks 1 to 2: Audit and plan. Every mailbox, drive, group, app connection and licence listed, with a cutover date agreed around your busy periods.
Weeks 3 to 5: Build and copy. The new platform set up and tested, then mail and files copied in the background while everyone keeps working.
Cutover weekend. Final copy, DNS switched, sign-in moved, Macs updated through device management.
The week after. We are on hand for questions, fix stragglers and close the old platform once you are happy.
Why Stabilise
We support both platforms every day on Mac-first teams, so we have no reason to push you either way. We have also seen what gets missed on a switch, which is why the apps and devices are planned alongside the data.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can we run both for a while? For a short overlap, yes, and the old platform stays read-only for a period after cutover. Running both long-term doubles licence costs and confuses people, so we keep the overlap short.
Will our Google Docs or Office files convert? Docs, Sheets and Slides convert to Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and the other way. Simple files convert cleanly; complex spreadsheets with scripts or macros need checking, and we list those in advance.
How long does it take? Five to seven weeks for most companies up to a few hundred people.
What happens to "Sign in with Google" on our other apps? Each app is moved to the new login before cutover, so nobody is locked out of a tool on Monday.
